EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, DECEMBER & ANNUAL 2025

Year-over-year (December 2025 vs December 2024)

The inflation rate slowed to 2.3% in the European Union and to 1.9% in the Euro Area in December 2025.

The fastest inflation was reported in Romania, while the slowest inflation rates were in Cyprus and France.                                                                   

Energy price inflation was -1.1% in the European Union and -1.9% in the Euro Area in December 2025.

Food price inflation was 2.4% for the European Union and 2.0% in the Euro Area in December 2025.

Excluding the impacts of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices year-over-year inflation was 2.5% in the European Union and 2.3% in the Euro Area in December 2025.

ANNUAL 2025

In the European Union, inflation slowed to 2.5% in 2025 from 2.6% in 2024. In the Euro Area, inflation was 2.1% in 2024, down from 2.4% in 2024.
