UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, SEPTEMBER-NOVEMBER 2025

The UK unemployment rate for the three-month period September to November 2025 was 5.1%, 0.3 percentage point higher than the preceding 3 month period (June-August 2025). From September to November 2024, the UK unemployment rate averaged 4.4%.  

There were 1.840 million unemployed people in the UK, 103,000 (5.9%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 280,000 (17.9%) more than at the same time a year ago. Employment in the UK was at 34.303 million, 82,000 (0.2%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 513,000 (1.5%) more compared to a year earlier. UK labour force increased by 185,000 (0.5%) from the preceding 3 month period and by 793,000 (2.2%) over the past year, rising to 36.143 million.

In both Canada and Nova Scotia, both labour force and employment have grown more rapidly than in the UK.
