EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, DECEMBER 2025

Month-over-month (December 2025 vs November 2025, seasonally adjusted)

In the 27 countries of the European Union, the trade surplus in goods widened by €1.1 billion to €8.8 billion. Exports from the European Union were up 1.1% to €217.1 billion while imports were up by 0.6% to €208.3 billion.

In the 20 countries of the Euro Area, the surplus in goods trade widened by €1.4 billion to €11.6 billion. Exports from the Euro Area were up 1.1% to €242.3 billion while imports were up by 0.6% to €230.7 billion.

European Union trade in goods with Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom

• The European Union's surplus in goods trade with Canada narrowed by €694.5 million to €887.5 million.
• The European Union's surplus in goods trade with the US widened by €148.1 million to €10.6 billion. 
• The European Union surplus in goods trade with the UK widened by €1.2 billion to €16.5 billion. 

Euro Area Trade in goods with Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom

For the subset of European Union countries that use the Euro

• the Euro Area surplus in goods trade with Canada narrowed  by €910.0 million to €292.3 million.
• the Euro Area surplus in goods trade with the US narrowed by €6.4 million to €8.8 billion. 
• the Euro Area surplus in goods trade with the UK widened by €1.0 billion to €13.4 billion.
