US TRADE BALANCE, MARCH 2026

Month over month (March 2026 vs February 2026)

The US trade deficit in goods and services widened by $2.5 billion to $60.3 billion in March. The goods deficit widened by $4.1 billion to $88.7 billion while the services surplus widened by $1.6 billion to $28.4 billion.

Total US exports increased $6.2 billion to $320.9 billion. Goods exports increased $6.5 billion to $213.5 billion, and services exports decreased $0.3 billion to $107.4 billion.

Total imports increased $8.7 billion to $381.2 billion. Goods imports increased $10.6 billion to $302.2 billion, and services imports decreased $1.9 billion to $79.0 billion.

Year over year (March 2026 vs March 2025) 

Compared with March 2025, the US trade deficit narrowed by $75.5 billion. The goods deficit narrowed by $73.3 billion and the services surplus increased by $2.2 billion.

Total exports increased by 13.3% (+$37.7 billion). Goods exports increased 16.1% (+$29.6 billion), services exports increased 8.2% (+$8.2 billion). 

Total imports decreased 9.0% (-$37.8 billion). Goods imports decreased 12.7% (-$43.8 billion), and services imports increased 8.2% (+$6.0 billion).
