Month-over-month (June 2026 vs May 2026)

In June 2026, Canada's international exports of goods rose 0.4% to $77.5 billion. Canada’s goods imports were up 0.2% to $73.6 billion. Canada's goods trade surplus widened by $0.16 billion to $3.9 billion in June 2026, marking a fourth consecutive monthly trade surplus.

Merchandise exports increased 0.4% in June among six of eleven categories, reaching a record high. Growth was led by higher exports of metal and non-metallic mineral products and metal ores and non-metallic minerals, supported by stronger gold and copper ore exports. Exports of energy products declined 10.0%, partially offsetting gains in other sectors.

Canada's international exports of services fell 0.2% from the previous month to $20.8 billion in June 2026. Canada's imports of services fell 0.4% to $21.0 billion. Canada's services trade deficit contracted by $45 million to $261 million in June.

Canada’s international exports of goods and services rose 0.3% to $98.20 billion in June 2026. Canada's international imports of goods and services rose 0.1% to $94.6 billion. Canada's overall international trade surplus widened by $203 million to $3.6 billion in June 2026. 

Exports of goods to the United States from Canada rose 0.3% to $53.9 billion in June 2026 and imports of goods from the US grew 3.0% to $43.9 billion. Canada's trade surplus in goods with the US contracted by $1.41 billion to $10.0 billion in June 2026. 

Canada's exports of goods to China fell 5.1% to $3.8 billion in June 2026. Canada's imports of goods from China fell 6.9% to $5.4 billion. Canada's deficit in goods trade with China narrowed by $200 million to $1.6 billion.

In June 2026, Canada's exports of goods to the European Union declined by 25.9% to $3.3 billion. Canada's imports of goods from the EU fell 7.2% to $7.1 billion. Canada's deficit in goods trade with the EU grew by $594.4 million to $3.8 billion.

Compared with the same month in 2025:

• Canada's international exports of goods rose 25.2% (+$15.6 billion) and Canada’s goods imports rose 9.4% (+$6.3 billion). Canada's goods trade position improved by $9.3 billion, from a deficit of $5.4 billion in June 2025 to a surplus of $3.9 billion in June 2026.
• Canada's international exports of services were up 4.5% (+$0.9 billion) and Canada's imports of services were up 3.4% (+$0.7 billion). Canada's services trade deficit narrowed by $189.0 million.
• Canada’s combined international exports of goods and services rose by 20.1% (+$16.5 billion) while imports of goods and services rose by 8.0% (+$7.0 billion). Canada's overall international trade position improved by $9.5 billion, from a deficit of $5.9 billion in June 2025 to a surplus of $3.6 billion in June 2026.
• Exports of goods from Canada to the United States increased 24.0% (+$10.4 billion) and imports of goods from the US rose 11.7% (+$4.6 billion). Canada's trade surplus in goods with the US widened by $5.8 billion.
• Canada's exports of goods to China grew 40.9% (+$1.1 billion). Canada's imports of goods from China fell 4.3% (-$242.1 million). Canada's deficit in goods trade with China narrowed by $1.3 billion.
• Canada's exports of goods to the European Union fell 8.1% (-$288.7 million). Canada's imports of goods from the EU rose 9.1% (+$591.7 million). Canada's deficit in goods trade with the EU widened by $880.2 million.
