UK CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, JULY 2026

UK Consumer Price Index including owner-occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose 3.1% year-over-year in July 2026, up 0.3 percentage points from its year-over-year in June 2026. The UK CPI index was up 2.9% year-over-year in July 2026, up 0.3 percentage points from year-over-year in June.

Owner occupiers' housing costs account for roughly 18% of the CPIH basket and remain the principal reason CPIH differs from CPI, as it is included in CPIH but excluded from CPI. In July, housing and household services and furniture made the largest upward contributions to the annual inflation rate, contributing to the monthly change of both CPIH and CPI inflation. Transport made the largest downward contribution.
