Month over month (July vs June 2026)
The US trade deficit in goods and services widened by $17.4 billion to $88.6 billion in July. The goods deficit widened by $17.6 billion to $119.6 billion while the services surplus widened by $225 million to $31.0 billion.


Total US exports decreased 2.1% (-$6.6 billion) to $310.7 billion. Goods exports declined 3.0% (-$6.2 billion) to $201.0 billion, and services exports decreased by 0.4% (-$399 million) to $109.7 billion.
Total imports increased 2.8% (+$10.8 billion) to $399.3 billion. Goods imports rose 3.7% ($11.4 billion) to $320.6 billion, and services imports decreased 0.8% (-$624 million) to $78.7 billion.
Year over year (July 2026 vs July 2025)
Compared with July 2025, the US trade deficit widened by $13.5 billion. The goods deficit widened by $16.9 billion and the services surplus increased by $3.4 billion.
Total exports increased by 9.3% (+$26.6 billion). Goods exports increased 12.1% (+$21.7 billion), services exports increased 4.6% (+$4.8 billion).
Total imports increased 11.2% (+$40.1 billion). Goods imports increased 13.7% (+$38.7 billion), and services imports increased 1.8% (+$1.4 billion).
