September 14, 2026MANUFACTURING SHIPMENTS, JULY 2026 Monthly (seasonally adjusted, July vs June 2026)
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments decreased 3.3% to $1.1 billion. National shipments fell 0.4% to $78.7 billion.
Manufacturing shipments were down in six provinces, led by Newfoundland and Labrador. New Brunswick reported the fastest increase.
Note: Disruptions in global oil markets have elevated petroleum product prices causing significant volatility in the value of refined petroleum shipments.
Year-over-year (July 2026 vs July 2025)
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments edged down 0.3% year-over-year. Nationally, manufacturing shipments grew 10.9% with all provinces except Nova Scotia reporting gains, led by Newfoundland and Labrador.
Year-to-date (January-July 2026 vs January-July 2025)
Nova Scotia's shipments grew 1.5% in January-July 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. National shipments increased 6.7%. Nine provinces reported year-to-date increases, with the fastest rise in Newfoundland and Labrador, followed by New Brunswick. The only decline was reported in Prince Edward Island.
In the first seven months of 2026, gains in durable goods shipments in Halifax offset declines outside the city. Shipments for non-durable goods were up across the province. Durable goods shipments from Halifax account for nearly two-thirds of the province's durables output. The majority of Nova Scotia's non-durable manufacturing shipments come from outside the city.
Trends
Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments have exhibited greater volatility than national shipments in the last two years. National shipments have trended down for several years until increasing in 2026.
