CANADA GDP BY INDUSTRY, JULY 2026

Month-over-month (July 2026 vs June 2026)

Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Canada was virtually unchanged in July 2026 compared with the previous month, with both goods and services industries reporting minimal change.

Real GDP in Canada's goods-producing industries fell 0.01% from June to July.

Real GDP in Canada's services-producing industries was virtually unchanged from June to July.

In July 2026, 11 of Canada's key industry sub-sectors reported real GDP growth compared to the previous month.

Among goods-producing industries, growth in construction and utilities was offset by declines in mining/quarrying/oil/gas extraction, agriculture/forestry/fishing and manufacturing. Construction rose 1.3% for the fourth consecutive month with gains in all subsectors. The manufacturing sector contracted 0.9% on declines in both durable and non-durable goods manufacturing.

Service-producing industries reported growth in 9 subsectors, led by accommodation/food services. Accommodation/food services growth of 0.8% was driven by increases in both food services and drinking places, while an increase in accommodations coincided with an increase in international travellers. Both wholesale and retail trade reported declines, while company management reported the fastest decline, though this is a relatively small industry.

Year-to-date (January-July 2026 vs January-July 2025)

The Canadian economy was 1.1% larger in the first seven months of 2026 when compared to the same period of 2025.

Real GDP from goods-producing industries grew 0.4% as declines in manufacturing, construction, and utilities were offset by gains in agriculture/forestry/fishing, mining/oil/gas.

Real GDP from services-producing industries was up 1.4% with gains in most industries. The strongest gains were in information/culture, finance/insurance, and transportation/warehousing. Notable declines were reported in company management (though this is a small industry) and education.
