EURO AREA CURRENT ACCOUNT, DECEMBER AND ANNUAL 2021

Month over month (Dec 2021 vs Nov 2021, seasonally adjusted)

The European Central Bank reported today that the Euro Area (EA19) Net current account surplus narrowed by €1,024 million to €22.6 billion.

  • Net goods and services surplus narrowed by €8,643 million to €29.5 billion
  • Net primary income surplus widened by €6,010 million to €6.6 billion
  • Net secondary income deficit narrowed by €1,609 million to €13.5 billion

Net Services surplus narrowed by €4,476 million to €18.4 billion.

Net Goods surplus narrowed by €4,167 million to €11.2 billion.

  • Goods exports increased €751 million to €226.8 billion
  • Goods imports increased €4,918 million to €215.6 billion

ANNUAL 2021 

The European Central Bank reported today that the Euro Area (EA19) Net current account surplus widened by €97.0 billion to €309.8 billion.

  • Net goods and services surplus widened by €74.4 billion to €419.6 billion
  • Net primary income surplus widened by €21.8 billion to €53.3 billion
  • Net secondary income deficit narrowed by €807 million to €163.1 billion

Net Services surplus widened by €117.6 billion to €123.2 billion.

Net Goods surplus narrowed by €43.3 billion to €296.4 billion.

  • Goods exports increased €328.7 billion to €2,513.6 billion
  • Goods imports increased €371.9 billion to €2,217.2 billion
