EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, DECEMBER AND ANNUAL 2022

EURO AREA (EA19 - Dec 2022 vs. Nov 2022, not seasonally adjusted)

The Euro Area's goods trade with the rest of the word recorded a deficit of €-8.8 billion in December. Euro Area exports decreased €26.1 billion (-9.9%) to €238.7 billion. Euro Area imports decreased €29.0 billion (-10.5%) to €247.5 billion.

                                                                                                                       

EUROPEAN UNION (EU27 - Dec 2022 vs. Nov 2022, not seasonally adjusted)

The European Union's goods trade with the rest of the world recorded a deficit of €12.1 billion in December. European Union exports decreased €18.7 billion (-7.9%) to €218.7 billion. European Union imports decreased €27.7 billion (-10.7%) to €230.8 billion.

TRADE PARTNERS (Dec 2022 vs. Nov 2022, not seasonally adjusted)

The European Union's goods trade with:

  • the United Kingdom recorded a surplus of €8.1 billion
  • Canada recorded a surplus of €0.5 billion
  • the United States recorded a surplus of €13.0 billion

 ANNUAL (2022 vs 2021)

The Euro Area's goods trade with the rest of the word recorded a deficit of €314.7 billion. Euro Area exports increased 18.0% to €2,877.8 billion and imports increased 37.5% to €3,192.5 billion.

The European Union's goods trade with the rest of the word recorded a deficit of €431.2 billion. European Union exports increased 17.9% to €2,572.0 billion and imports increased 41.3% to €3,003.2 billion.
