UK TRADE BALANCE, FEBRUARY 2026

Month-over-month (February vs January 2026, seasonally adjusted)

The United Kingdom (UK) goods and services trade balance changed from a surplus (£3.02 billion in January 2026) to a deficit (£0.7 billion in February 2026). Exports of goods and services decreased 1.5% (£1.2 billion) to £80.2 billion and imports of goods and services increased 3.2% (£2.5 billion) to £80.9 billion.

The UK goods trade deficit widened by £3.7 billion to £18.8 billion. Exports of goods decreased 3.9% (£1.4 billion) to £33.3 billion and imports of goods increased 4.7% (£2.4 billion) to £52.0 billion.

The UK services trade surplus was unchanged at £18.1 billion. Exports of services increased 0.3% (£0.1 billion) to £46.9 billion and imports of services increased 0.6% (£0.2 billion) to £28.9 billion.

Year-over-year (February 2026 vs February 2025, seasonally adjusted)

The UK goods and services trade balance deficit narrowed by £4.1 billion from February 2025 to £0.7 billion in February 2026. The goods trade deficit narrowed by £1.2 billion and the services trade surplus widened by £2.9 billion.

Month-over-month (January 2026 vs December 2025, seasonally adjusted)

The UK-EU goods trade deficit widened by £0.7 billion to £11.7 billion. Exports of goods decreased by 0.7% (£0.1 billion) to £15.4 billion and imports of goods increased by 2.3% (£0.6 billion) to £27.1 billion. 

The UK-non-EU goods trade deficit widened by £3.0 billion to £7.1 billion. Exports of goods decreased 6.5% (£1.2 billion) to £17.8 billion and imports of goods increased by 7.5% (£1.7 billion) to £24.9 billion.

The UK-EU goods trade deficit widened by £0.3 billion and non-EU goods trade deficit narrowed by £1.5 billion.
