Exports of services increased by 1.2% to €112.5 billion while imports of services decreased 4.7% to €101.5 billion in April 2024.  The substantial decline in service imports increased the Euro Area services surplus to €11.1 billion.

Primary income receipts for the Euro Area decreased by 0.4% to €101.9 billion while payments increased by 6.6% to €99.8 billion in April 2024. The faster increase in payments over receipts resulted in a decline of primary income surplus to €2.1 billion.

Secondary income receipts increased by 3.7% to €15.4 billion while secondary income payments increased by 7.2% to €27.6 billion. As the growth in payments was faster than growth in receipts, the Euro Area secondary income deficit widened to €12.1 billion in April 2024.
