CANADA INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE MAY 2018

                     

 

In May 2018, Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payments basis, seasonally adjusted) posted a $2.8 billion deficit. 

Exports are down 0.1% over April 2018 to $48.3 billion, and are virtually unchanged (-0.04%) over May 2017. Imports increased by 1.7 per cent from April 2018 to $51.1 billion and increased 3.5% over May 2017.

In May 2018, the Canadian merchandise trade surplus with the United States (balance of payments basis, seasonally adjusted)  decreased to $3.3 billion over April 2018.

 

 

  

Year-to-date

In Canada Jan-May 2018, the total merchandise trade deficit reached $13.3 billion. Year to date goods exports were valued at $236.3 billion and year-to-date goods imports were valued at $249.5 billion.
