CANADA INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE, JULY 2018

In July 2018, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), deficit narrowed to $114.3 million.  This is the smallest deficit since the most recent surplus recorded in December 2016.

Exports are up 0.8% to $51.3 billon over Jun 2018, and are up 16.3% over Jul 2017. Imports are down 0.4% to $51.4 billon over Jun 2018, and are up 10.1% over Jul 2017.

In July 2018, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), surplus with the United States increased to $5.3 billion.

Year-to-date

In the period Jan-Jul 2018, the year-to-date Canadian merchandise trade deficit reached $14.0 billon. Year-to-date goods Exports were valued at $339.4 billon and year-to-date goods Imports were valued at $353.5 billon.
