US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, DECEMBER 2018 AND ANNUAL

In December 2018, US construction spending decreased 0.6 per cent to $1,293 billion.
This follows a revised gain of 0.8 per cent reported in November 2018, when construction spending totaled $1,301 billion.
Year-over-year, spending is 1.6 per cent above December 2017.

Private sector construction decreased 0.6 per cent to $991 billion, and is up 0.8 per cent over December 2017.
Public sector construction decreased 0.6 per cent to $302 billion, over November 2018, and is up 4.2 per cent over December 2017.

Month-to-month US residential construction decreased 1.4 per cent to $542 billion,and is down 1.5 per cent over December 2017. billion. Non-residential construction spending increased 0.0 per cent to $751 billion, over November 2018 and increased 4.0 per cent over December 2017.


Private sector construction increased 3.9 per cent, and public sector construction increased 6.4 per cent over December 2017.

 

ANNUAL

The value of construction in 2018 (unadjusted) was $1.3 trillion in 2018, up 4.1 per cent from $1.25 trillion in 2017. Residential construction spending was $548.7 billion in 2018, an increase of 3.2 per cent over 2017. Non-residential construction was $749.0 billion in 2018, up 4.9 per cent from 2017. Public construction increased 6.6 per cent to $302.0 billion, and private construction spending was up 3.4 per cent to $995.6 billion in 2018.
