UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, JANUARY 2019 TO MARCH 2019

The UK Office for National Statistics reported today that the unemployment rate for the three-month period January 2019 to March 2019 was  3.8 per cent, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous three month period. The UK unemployment rate has not been lower since October to December 1974.

There were 1.30 million unemployed people, 119,000 fewer than for a year earlier and 914,000 fewer than five years earlier.

Employment was at 32.70 million, 354,000 more compared with a year earlier.
