In the European Union, on a month-over-month basis, retail sales (seasonally adjusted index of turnover value) were up 0.7 per cent in November 2019 over October 2019. In the Euro Area, retail sales were up 1.2 per cent in November 2019.
In the European Union, on a year-to-date basis, retail sales (seasonally adjusted index of turnover value) were up 3.2 per cent in Jan-Nov 2019 vs Jan-Nov 2018. In the Euro Area, Retail sales were up 2.6 per cent in Jan-Nov 2019 vs Jan-Nov 2018.

In the European Union Jan-Nov 2019 vs Jan-Nov 2018, where data is available, the strongest growth in year-to-date retail sales occurred in:
- Romania (10.1%)
- Hungary (9.0%)
- Poland (6.3%)
- Lithuania (6.3%)
- Estonia (6.2%)
The weakest growth occurred in
- Slovakia (0.8%)
- Denmark (1.1%)
- Belgium (1.9%)
- Austria (2.0%)
By retail sector,
In the Euro Area, by retail sector, the strongest growth in Jan-Nov 2019 vs Jan-Nov 2018 is found in
- Computers, telecommunications (3.6%) followed by
- Pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic (2.9%), and
- Hardware, appliances (2.8%);
- Food, beverage, tobacco (2.1%);
- Clothing, footwear (0.7%).
- The lowest growth was in Automotive fuel (0.7%).
Mail and internet sales were up 9.0% in the Euro Area.
In the European Union, by retail sector, the strongest growth in Jan-Nov 2019 vs Jan-Nov 2018 is found in
- Pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic (4.5%) followed by
- Computers, telecommunications (3.3%), and
- Hardware, appliances (3.1%);
- Food, beverage, tobacco (2.8%);
- Automotive fuel (1.5%).
- The lowest growth was in Clothing, footwear (1.1%)
Mail and internet sales were up 10.9% in the European Union.
