US CURRENT ACCOUNT Q4 2019

 

 

The US Bureau of Economic Analysis reported that in 2019 Q4,

  •  the Current account trade deficit narrowed by $15.6 billions to $109.8 billion over 2019 Q3 and narrowed by 23.7% ($34.1 billions) over 2018 Q4.
  •  the G&S trade deficit narrowed by $18.6 billions to $139.9 billion over 2019 Q3 and narrowed by 18.3% ($31.3 billions) over 2018 Q4.
  •  the Goods trade deficit narrowed by $18.1 billions to $202.8 billion over 2019 Q3 and narrowed by 12.7% ($29.5 billions) over 2018 Q4.
  •  the Services income surplus widened by $0.5 billions to $62.9 billion over 2019 Q3 and widened by 2.9% ($1.8 billions) over 2018 Q4.
  •  the Primary income surplus widened by $1.4 billions to $67.3 billion over 2019 Q3 and widened by 12.0% ($7.2 billions) over 2018 Q4.
  •  the Secondary trade deficit widened by $4.4 billions to $37.3 billion over 2019 Q3 and widened by 13.4% ($4.4 billions) over 2018 Q4.

 

The US Bureau of Economic Analysis reported that in 2019 Q4,

  • Exports Goods trade narrowed by 0.6% ($2.5 billions) over 2019 Q3 and narrowed by 1.7% ($7.2 billions) over 2018 Q4, to $409.7 billion. 
  • Imports Goods trade narrowed by 3.3% ($20.6 billions) over 2019 Q3 and narrowed by 5.7% ($36.8 billions) over 2018 Q4, to $612.5 billion. 
  • As a result, Goods trade deficit narrowed by $18.1 billions to $202.8 billion

 

The US Bureau of Economic Analysis reported that in 2019 Q4,

  • Exports Services trade widened by 1.3% ($2.8 billions) over 2019 Q3 and widened by 3.5% ($7.1 billions) over 2018 Q4, to $213.9 billion. 
  • Imports Services trade widened by 1.6% ($2.3 billions) over 2019 Q3 and widened by 3.7% ($5 .4 billions) over 2018 Q4, to $151.0 billion. 

As a result, Services trade surplus widened by $0.5 billions to $62.9 billion

 

 

Current Account as a % of GDP

 

The US Bureau of Economic Analysis reported that BOP as a % of GDP decreased 0.3 percentage points to 2.0% over 2019 Q3.

"The U.S. current account deficit narrowed by $15.6 billion, or 12.4 percent, to $109.8 billion in the fourth quarter of 2019, according to statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The revised third quarter deficit was $125.4 billion. The fourth quarter deficit was 2.0 percent of current dollar gross domestic product, down from 2.3 percent in the third quarter."
