US TRADE BALANCE, MARCH 2020

In March 2020, US Goods and Services trade deficit increased by $4.6 billion to $44.4 billion. The goods trade deficit also increased by $4.6 billion to $65.6 billion. The services trade surplus narrowed by $0.1 billion to $21.2 billion.

Monthly exports decreased by $20 billon to $187.8 billion. Goods exports decreased by $9.2 billion to $128.1 billion while services exports decreased by $10.1 billion to $59.6 billion.

US imports were down $15.4 billion to $232.2 billion, reflecting a $4.7 billion decrease to $193.7 billion in goods imports and a $10.7 billion decrease to $38.5 billion in services imports.

Compared to March 2019, the US trade deficit narrowed by $8.3 billion, reflecting a $7.6 billion decrease in goods trade deficit and a $633 million increase in services trade surplus.
