June 17, 2021EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, MAY 2021 Year-over-year (May 2021 vs May 2020)
The inflation rate moved up to 2.3% in the European Union and moved up to 2.0% in the Euro Area in May 2021.
Among member states, the fastest inflation was reported in Hungary, Poland and Luxembourg while the lowest inflation was reported in Portugal, Malta, and Greece. Annual inflation increased in 26 member states and declined in 1 member state.
Food price inflation moved up to 0.1% in the European Union and moved up to 0.0% in the Euro Area.
Energy inflation moved up to 12.9% in the European Union and moved up to 13.1% in the Euro Area.
Excluding the impacts of volatile energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices, inflation moved up to 1.3% in the European Union and moved up to 1.0% in the Euro Area.
