US TRADE BALANCE, JULY 2021

Month over month (Jul-21 vs Jun-21)

The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that the month-over-month net trade deficit narrowed by $3.2 billion to $70.1 billion. The goods trade deficit narrowed by $5.5 billions to $87.7 billion and the services trade surplus narrowed by $2.4 billion to $17.7 billion.

                                                                                  

Total exports increased 1.3% ($2.8 billion) to $212.8 billion. Exports of goods increased 1.8% ($2.7 billion) to $148.6 billion and exports of services increased 0.1% ($0.1 billion) to $64.2 billion.

Total imports decreased 0.2% (-$0.4 billion) to $282.9 billion. Imports of goods decreased 1.2% (-$2.9 billion) to $236.3 billion and imports of services increased 5.5% ($2.4 billion) to $46.6 billion.

 

 

Year over year (Jul 2021 vs Jul 2020)

In the United States, the net trade deficit widened by $9.3 billion. The net trade goods deficit widened by $6.9 billion, and the net trade services surplus narrowed by $2.4 billion.


Total exports increased 24.5% ($41.9 billion). Exports of goods increased 28.2% ($32.7 billion), and exports of services increased 16.7% ($9.2 billion).

Total imports increased 22.1% ($51.2 billion). Imports of goods increased 20.2% ($39.6 billion), and imports of services increased 33.1% ($11.6 billion).
