US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, NOVEMBER 2021

Month over month (November 2021 vs October 2021, seasonally adjusted annual rate)

US construction spending increased 0.4% from the revised October estimate of $1,618.8 billion to $1,625.9 billion in November. Total residential construction increased 0.9% to $805.3 billion while total non-residential construction spending was unchanged at $820.6 billion.

Private sector construction was up 0.6% to $1,273.6 billion while public sector construction was down 0.2% to $352.3 billion.

Year over year (November 2021 vs November 2020)

US Construction spending was up 9.3%. Total residential construction was up 16.1% while total non-residential construction was up 3.4%. Private sector construction spending was up 12.5%. Public sector construction spending was down 0.9%.

Year-to-date (Jan-Nov 2021 vs Jan-Nov 2020)

In the first eleven months of 2021, US construction spending was up 7.6% from the same period last year. Total residential construction was up 23.2%. Total non-residential construction was down 4.1%. Private sector construction was up 11.6%. Public sector construction was down 4.5%.
