EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, DECEMBER AND ANNUAL 2021

EURO AREA (EA19 - Dec 2021 vs Nov 2021, not seasonally adjusted)

The Euro Area's goods trade with the rest of the word recorded a deficit of €-4.6 billion. Euro Area exports decreased €6.5 billion (-2.9%) to €218.7 billion and Euro Area imports decreased €3.4 billion (-1.5%) to €223.3 billion

                                                                                                                            

EUROPEAN UNION (EU27 - Dec 2021 vs Nov 2021, not seasonally adjusted)

The European Union's goods trade with the rest of the world recorded a deficit of €10.0 billion. European Union exports decreased €3.3 billion (-1.6%) to €198.2 billion and European Union imports decreased €1.5 billion (-0.7%) to €208.2 billion.

TRADE PARTNERS (Dec 2021 vs Nov 2021, not seasonally adjusted)

The European Union's goods trade with:

  • the United Kingdom recorded a deficit of €9.7 billion

  • Canada recorded a surplus of €0.9 billion

  • the United States recorded a surplus of €13.0 billion

 

ANNUAL (2021 vs 2020)

The Euro Area's goods trade with the rest of the word recorded a surplus of €128.4 billion. Euro Area exports increased 14.1% to €2,434.3 billion and Euro Area imports increased 21.4% to €2,305.9  billion.

The European Union's goods trade with the rest of the word recorded a surplus of €68.9 billion. European Union exports increased 12.8% to €2,180.5 billion and imports increased 14.7% to €2,111.5 billion.
