JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT AND TRADE BALANCE, JANUARY 2022

Current Account (January 2022 vs. December 2021)

The net current account surplus narrowed by 620 billion yen to 192 billion yen.                                                                                                             

  • The net goods and services deficit widened by 282 billion yen to 1,009 billion yen
  • The net primary income surplus narrowed by 361 billion yen to 1,379 billion yen
  • The net secondary income deficit narrowed by 23 billion yen to 179 billion yen

Trade Balance (January 2022 vs. December 2021)

Net services deficit widened by 271 billion yen to 610 billion yen.

Net goods deficit widened by 11 billion yen to 399 billion yen.

  • Net goods exports increased 169 billion yen to 7,360 billion yen
  • Net goods imports increased 179 billion yen to 7,759 billion yen
