JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT AND TRADE BALANCE, DECEMBER AND ANNUAL 2022

                                                                                                                                             

Current Account (December 2022 vs November 2022)

The net current account surplus narrowed by 736 billion yen to 1,182 billion yen.

  • The net goods and services deficit widened by 36 billion yen to 1,791 billion yen.
  • The net primary income surplus narrowed by 551 billion yen to 3,266 billion yen.
  • The net secondary income deficit widened by 150 billion yen to 293 billion yen.

 

 

Trade Balance (December 2022 vs November 2022)

The net goods deficit widened by 36 billion yen to 1,432 billion yen.

  • The goods exports decreased 870 billion yen to 7,979 billion yen.
  • The goods imports decreased 834 billion yen to 9,411 billion yen.
  • The net services deficit narrowed by 1 billion yen to 359 billion yen.

 

 

 

ANNUAL CURRENT ACCOUNT (2022 vs 2021)

In 2022, Japan reported that net goods and services deficit widened by 188,266 billion yen to 213,881 billion yen.

  • Net primary income surplus widened by 87,273 billion yen to 353,087 billion yen
  • Net secondary income deficit widened by 484 billion yen to 24,773 billion yen
  • As a result, Net current account surplus narrowed by 101,478 billion yen to 114,432 billion yen

 

ANNUAL TRADE BALANCE

 

Japan's goods exports increased 164,066 billion yen to 986,903 billion yen and goods imports increased 338,575 billion yen to 1,144,711 billion yen. As a result, net goods declined 157,808 billion yen. 

Japan's net services declined 56,073 billion yen.
