JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT AND TRADE BALANCE, JANUARY 2023

 

                                                                                                                                               

Current Account (January 2023 vs December 2022)

The net current account surplus narrowed by 968 billion yen to 216 billion yen.

  • The net goods and services deficit widened by 340 billion yen to 2,252 billion yen.
  • The net primary income surplus narrowed by 497 billion yen to 2,872 billion yen.
  • The net secondary income deficit widened by 131 billion yen to 404 billion yen.

 

Trade Balance (January 2023 vs December 2022)

The net goods deficit widened by 144 billion yen to 1,696 billion yen.

  • The goods exports decreased 275 billion yen to 7,835 billion yen.
  • The goods imports decreased 130 billion yen to 9,531 billion yen.

 

The net services deficit widened by 195 billion yen to 556 billion yen.
