EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, JANUARY 2023

EURO AREA (EA20 - Jan 2023 vs. Dec 2022, not seasonally adjusted)

The Euro Area's goods trade with the rest of the word recorded a deficit of €-30.6 billion

  • Euro Area exports decreased €15.0 billion (-6.3%) to €222.9 billion
  • Euro Area imports increased €5.3 billion (+2.2%) to €253.5 billion

     

     NOTE: With the addition of Croatia, the Euro Area increased to 20 countries

 

EUROPEAN UNION (EU27 - Jan 2023 vs. Dec 2022, not seasonally adjusted)

The European Union's goods trade with the rest of the world recorded a deficit of €34.6 billion in January. European Union exports decreased €20.2 billion (-9.2%) to €198.6 billion. European Union imports increased €1.8 billion (+0.8%) to €233.3 billion.

 

TRADE PARTNERS (Jan 2023 vs. Dec 2022, not seasonally adjusted)

The European Union's goods trade with:

  • the United Kingdom recorded a surplus of €9.2 billion
  • Canada recorded a surplus of €1.2 billion
  • the United States recorded a surplus of €6.7 billion

   NOTE: With the addition of Croatia, the Euro Area increased to 20 countries
