UK CURRENT ACCOUNT, 2023Q1

Quarter vs quarter (2023Q1 vs 2022Q4)

Compared to the previous quarter, the United Kingdom Office of National Statistics reported that the net current account deficit grew by £8.3 billion to £10.8 billion.

  • net goods and service deficit grew by £6.4 billion to £13.2 billion
  • net primary income surplus decreased by £3.2 billion to £6.6 billion
  • net secondary income deficit decreased by £1.3 billion to £4.1 billion

Exports of goods decreased 13.8% (£15.9 billion) and imports of goods decreased 7.3% (£11.6 billion). As a result, net goods deficit grew by £4.3 billion to £49.6 billion.

Exports of services increased 0.8% (£0.9 billion) and imports of services increased 4.4% (£3.0 billion). As a result, net services surplus decreased by £2.1 billion to £36.4 billion.
