July 18, 2023US RETAIL SALES, JUNE 2023 Month over month (June 2023 vs. May 2023, seasonally adjusted)
The US Census Bureau announced today that the advance estimates of U.S retail and food service sales have increased to $689.5 billion (+0.2%). Excluding food services and drinking places, retail trade sales increased 0.2% while food service and drinking places increased 0.1%.
Year-over-year (June 2023 vs June 2022, seasonally adjusted)
US retail trade increased 0.5% and food services and drinking places sales increased 8.4%.
Year-to-date (Jan-Jun 2023 vs Jan-Jun 2022, seasonally adjusted)
During the first six months of 2023, the United States retail trade and food services increased 3.2%. Retail trade increased 2.0% and food services and drinking places sales increased 12.8%.
Sales were up in 9 of 13 retail categories, the largest decline (in percentage terms) was seen in gas stations while the fastest gain was in health and personal care stores and non-store retailers.
