EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, JUNE 2023

Year-over-year (June 2023 vs June 2022)

The inflation rate slowed to 6.4% in the European Union and to 5.5% in the Euro Area in June 2023.

The fastest inflation was reported in Hungary (+19.9%) while the slowest inflation rate was in Luxembourg (+1.0%).

Energy inflation declined 4.1% in the European Union and declined 5.6% in the Euro Area in June 2023.

Food price inflation is slowing but remains elevated at 13.8% for the European Union and 12.6% for the Euro Area. 

Excluding the impacts of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices inflation edged up to 6.2% in the European Union and to 5.5% in the Euro Area in June 2023.
