UK GDP Q2 (FIRST ESTIMATE) 2023

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) released the first estimate of UK Gross Domestic Product (seasonally adjusted annualized rate) for Q2 2023 reported an increase of 0.8%, up two percentage points from previous quarter. Compared to pre-pandemic quarter (Q4 2019), the UK economy is 0.2% smaller in Q2 2023.

Services output was up 0.1% in Q2 2023 (quarterly growth), with positive contributions from information and communications industries, accommodation and food services, and human health and social work activities. Production activity increased 0.7% driven by growth in manufacturing (+1.6%) in Q2 2023. Growth in manufacturing was driven by growth in transportation equipment (+0.9%) manufacturing.
