August 17, 2023EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, JUNE 2023 Month-over-month (June 2023 vs May 2023, seasonally adjusted)
In the 27 countries of the European Union, the balance of trade in goods shifted from a deficit of €1.2 billion in May 2023 to a surplus of €12.8 billion in June 2023. Exports from the European Union were down 0.9% to €212.7 billion while imports declined 7.4% to €199.9 billion.
In the 20 countries of the Euro Area, the balance of trade in goods surplus widened (€12.3 billion) to €12.5 billion in June 2023. Exports from the Euro Area decreased o.5% to €237.2 billion while imports declined by 5.6% to €224.6 billion.
The European Union continues to run consistent surpluses in goods trade with the UK (€14.4 billion), Canada (€2.1 billion) and the US (€15.2 billion).
Likewise, for the subset of European Union countries that use the Euro, there is a goods trade surplus with the UK (€11.2 billion), Canada (€1.8 billion) and the US (€12.3 billion).
