August 18, 2023EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, JULY 2023 Year-over-year (July 2023 vs July 2022)
The inflation rate slowed to 6.1% in the European Union and to 5.3% in the Euro Area in July 2023.
The fastest inflation was reported in Hungary (+17.5%) while the slowest inflation rate was in Belgium (+1.7%).
Energy inflation declined 4.4% in the European Union and declined 6.1% in the Euro Area in July 2023.
Food price inflation is slowing but remains elevated at 12.4% for the European Union and 11.6% for the Euro Area.
Excluding the impacts of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices year-over-year inflation was steady at 6.2% in the European Union and 5.5% in the Euro Area in July 2023.
