November 30, 2023EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, OCTOBER 2023
Eurostat has reported that the unemployment rate in the Euro Area was unchanged at 6.5% in October 2023. For the broader 27 countries of the entire European Union, the unemployment rate also remained unchanged at 6.0% in October 2023.
In October, youth unemployment rates edged up to 14.8% in the European Union and 14.9% in the Euro Area. Unemployment rates for females in the European Union were 6.4% while the male unemployment rate was 5.8%. Euro Area unemployment rates for females were 6.9% in October 2023 while the Euro Area unemployment rate for males was 6.2%.
Among EU member state economies, the October unemployment rate was highest in Spain. Unemployment rates were lowest in Czechia, Malta, and Poland.
