UK TRADE BALANCE, OCTOBER 2023

Month-over-month (October 2023 vs September  2023, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom goods and services trade deficit widened by £2.9 billion to £4.5 billion. Exports of goods and services increased 0.6% (£0.4 billion) to £69.9 billion and imports of goods and services increased 4.6% (£3.3 billion) to £74.4 billion.

The United Kingdom goods trade deficit widened by £2.7 billion to £17.0 billion. Exports of goods increased 2.0% (£0.6 billion) to £30.9 billion and imports of goods increased 7.5% (£3.4 billion) to £47.9 billion.

The United Kingdom services trade surplus narrowed by £0.2 billion to £12.6 billion. Exports of services decreased 0.6% (£0.2 billion) to £39.0 billion and imports of services decreased 0.2% (£0.1 billion) to £26.4 billion.

 

Year-over-year (October 2023 vs October 2022, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom goods and services deficit widened by £8.4 billion. The goods trade deficit widened by £6.8 billion and the services trade surplus narrowed by £1.6 billion.

 

UNITED KINGDOM TRADING PARTNERS

Month-over-month (October 2023 vs September 2023, seasonally adjusted)

The United Kingdom EU goods trade deficit decreased by £2.4 billion to £12.2 billion. Exports of goods decreased by 5.8% to £14.3 billion and imports of goods increased by 6.0% to £26.5 billion.

The United Kingdom non-EU goods trade deficit widened by £0.4 billion to £4.8 billion. Exports of goods increased 9.8% (£1.5 billion) to £16.6 billion and imports of goods increased by 9.5% (£1.9 billion) to £21.4 billion.

 

Year-over-year (October 2023 vs October 2022, seasonally adjusted )

The United Kingdom-EU goods trade deficit grew by £3.1 billion and the non-EU goods trade deficit widened by £3.7 billion.
