COMMUNITY PROFILE FOR JULY: JEDDORE

Population



Based on the 2011 Census of Population, Jeddore has a population of 1,445 which is 1.0% higher than in 2001. In 2011, 20.1% of the population was under the age of 20 and 17.8% was 65 years or older.

In comparison, Nova Scotia has a population of 921,725 which is 1.5% higher than in 2001. 21.2% of the population was under the age of 20 and 16.6% was 65 years or older.



Median and Average Income

In 2006, the median income for individuals in Jeddore was $21,512 a year, compared with the median of $24,030 for Nova Scotia. Families in Jeddore had a median income of $49,806, compared with the median of $55,412 for Nova Scotia.


In 2006, the average income for individuals in Jeddore was $28,219 a year, compared with the average of $31,795 for Nova Scotia. Families in Jeddore had a average income of $55,712, compared with the average of $66,032 for Nova Scotia.



Employment Rate

The employment rate for Jeddore residents aged 25 and over decreased by 1.2 percentage points to 55.4% between 1996 and 2006 and there were 62 more employed workers. Nova Scotia's employment rate experienced an increase by 3.6 percentage points to 58% between 1996 and 2006 and there were 46,050 more employed workers, during this same period.

The employment rate in Jeddore for residents aged 15-24 years increased by 23.3 percentage points, to 76.2% between 1996 and 2006 and there were 17 more employed workers. Nova Scotia's employment rate experienced an increase by 7.1 percentage points to 52.9% between 1996 and 2006 and there were 62,287 more employed workers.
