WHOLESALE TRADE, SEPTEMBER 2015

In September 2015, Nova Scotia's wholesale sales (seasonally adjusted) increased 5.2 per cent over August 2015 to $807 million.    Compared with September 2014, Nova Scotia's wholesale merchant sales are up 6.6 per cent.  Canadian wholesale merchant sales were declined (-0.1 per cent) in September, with notable declines in British Columbia and Alberta.

There has been significant volatility in recent wholesale values for Nova Scotia, but the province's wholesale trade (unadjusted) has averaged 4.0 per cent higher through the first nine months of 2015.  National wholesale merchant sales were up 4.5 per cent over this period, led by strong gains in Saskatchewan and Ontario.

In Nova Scotia, the year-to-date increase in wholesale trade is largely concentrated in food/beverage/tobacco products, with smaller dollar gains in machinery/equipment  and motor vehicles/parts.
