US TRADE BALANCE, JANUARY 2025

Month over month (January 2025 vs December 2024)

The United States goods and services deficit widened by $33.3 billion to $131.4 billion. The goods deficit widened by $33.5 billion to $156.8 billion, and the services surplus widened by $166 million to $25.4 billion.                                                                                                                                                                                   

Total exports increased $3.3 billion to $269.8 billion. Goods exports increased $7.2 billion to $172.8 billion, and services exports increased $598 million to $97.0 billion.

Total imports increased $36.6 billion to $401.2 billion. Goods imports increased $36.2 billion to $329.5 billion, and services imports increased $432 million to $71.7 billion.

Year over year (January 2025 vs January 2024)

The US trade deficit widened by $64.5 billion. The goods deficit widened by $65.2 billion, and the services surplus widened by $697 million.

Total exports increased by $10.65 billion. Goods exports increased $2.2 billion, and services exports increased $8.4 billion.

Total imports increased $75.2 billion. Goods imports increased $67.4 billion, and services imports increased $7.7 billion.
