Nova Scotia manufacturing shipments were down year-over-year in January 2026 for both durable and non-durable goods, with gains in Halifax more than offset by declines in the rest of Nova Scotia. Durable goods shipments from Halifax account for more than half of the province's durables output. The majority of Nova Scotia's non-durable manufacturing shipments come from outside the city.

Trends
Periodic spikes in Nova Scotia's shipments values are not uncommon. Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments grew through the first half of 2025, but have contracted sharply since spring 2025. National shipments trended down in the first part of 2025 and rebounded before declining again in recent months.
