New housing prices in Nova Scotia were up 0.9% from January to February 2026. Nationally the price of new houses was up 0.3%, with growth in five provinces. The fastest monthly gain was reported in Alberta. British Columbia and Ontario were the only provinces to post declines in new house prices.
Year-over-year (February 2026 vs February 2025)
Nova Scotia’s new housing prices increased 1.8% from February 2025 to February 2026. Nationally, prices were down 2.1%.

New housing prices increased year-over-year in six provinces, led by Québec, while Ontario reported the largest decline.

Halifax new home prices increased 1.8% year-over-year in February 2026. Among Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs), new housing prices were down year-over-year in thirteen CMAs, led by Hamilton. Regina reported the largest year-over-year gain.

Year-to-date (January-February 2026 vs January-February 2025
In the first two months of 2026, Nova Scotia new housing prices rose 3.3%, the second largest increase just behind Québec. Nationally, new house prices declined 2.2%, with gains in six provinces offset by declines in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.

Halifax housing prices were up 3.3% in January-February 2026 compared to the same period a year ago. There were declines in prices in 13 CMAs through out Canada. Québec city reported the largest increase while Hamilton posted the largest decline in new house prices.
