US retail sales increased 1.9% from the previous month. Food service and drinking places receipts rose 0.1%.
Year-over-year (March 2026 vs March 2025, seasonally adjusted)
US retail trade increased 4.2% and food services and drinking places sales increased 2.4%.
Year-to-date (January-March 2026 vs January-March 2025)
In the first three months of 2026, retail trade and food services receipts were up 3.7% compared to the same period of 2025. US retail sales were up 3.7% with gains in all categories except furniture. The fastest gains (in percentage terms) were in miscellaneous and non-store retailers. Food service receipts were up 3.8% in January-March 2026.
