New housing prices in Nova Scotia were unchanged from February to March 2026. Nationally the price of new houses was down 0.2%, with Québec and the prairie provinces posting growth and the four Atlantic provinces reporting no change. The fastest monthly gain was reported in Alberta. Ontario and British Columbia were the only provinces to post declines in new house prices.

Nova Scotia’s new housing prices increased 1.8% from March 2025 to March 2026. Nationally, prices were down 2.3%.

New housing prices increased year-over-year in six provinces, led by Saskatchewan, while Ontario reported the largest decline.

Halifax new home prices increased 1.8% year-over-year in March 2026. Among Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs), new housing prices were down year-over-year in fourteen CMAs, led by Toronto. Regina reported the largest year-over-year gain.

Year-to-date (January-March 2026 vs January-March 2025)
In the first three months of 2026, Nova Scotia new housing prices rose 2.8%. Nationally, new house prices declined 2.2%, with gains in six provinces led by Québec and Saskatchewan, offset by declines in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.

Halifax housing prices were up 2.8% in January-March 2026 compared to the same period a year ago. There were declines in prices in 13 CMAs through out Canada. Regina reported the largest increase while Hamilton and Toronto posted the largest declines in new house prices.
