EURO AREA CURRENT ACCOUNT, APRIL 2026

Month over month (April 2026 vs March 2026, seasonally adjusted)

Month over month, the Euro Area current account surplus widened by €0.8 billion to €15.7 billion

  • Goods trade surplus widened by €2.9 billion to €17.2 billion
  • Services trade surplus widened by €0.8 billion to €14.9 billion
  • Primary income balance deteriorated by €3.1 billion, becoming a deficit of €0.8 billion
  • Secondary income deficit narrowed by €0.2 billion to €15.5 billion

The Euro Area's exports of goods rose by 6.7% to €251.7 billion. Imports of goods increased 5.8% to €234.5 billion.   

Exports of services from the Euro Area decreased by 0.7% to €135.1 billion while imports of services to the Euro Area decreased 1.5% to €120.2 billion.  

Primary income receipts for the Euro Area increased by 0.7% to €118.3 billion while payments increased by 3.4% to €119.1 billion. 

Secondary income receipts in the Euro Area increased by 1.0% to €16.6 billion while secondary income payments from the Euro Area decreased by 0.2% to €32.1 billion.
