TERANET-NATIONAL BANK HOUSE PRICE INDEX, JULY 2026

Monthly (July vs June 2026, seasonally adjusted)

Halifax resale home prices, as measured by the Teranet-National Bank House Price Index (seasonally adjusted), rose 0.93% from June to July 2026. 

The composite 11-city index of resale house prices grew 0.16% with declines in five cities. Halifax reported the fastest increase and Hamilton reported the fastest decline.

Year-over-year (July 2026 vs July 2025)

Halifax resale home prices were down 0.2% year-over-year. Prices for the 11-city composite index were down 3.1% with declines in seven of 11 urban centers. Québec City reported the fastest pace of growth over July 2025 while the fastest decline was in Toronto.

Year-to-date (January-July 2026 vs January-July 2025)

In the first seven months of 2026, Halifax resale home prices were down 0.9%. Composite 11-city index dropped 4.2% with declines in seven urban centers. Toronto reported the fastest decline white Québec City reported the fastest gain.

Trends

Halifax resale home prices reported positive year-over-year growth throughout 2024 and 2025. It experienced a slower decline in recent months compared to a sharp decline in early 2026.

In July 2026, the national index saw its fifteenth consecutive year-over-year decline. Since January 2019, year-over-year Halifax resale home price growth has outpaced the national composite in all but four months.

There were no new highs set for resale house prices in July.
