June 13, 2012UPDATE OF COMMUNITY AND MUNICIPAL ELECTORAL DISTRICT BOUNDARIES ON COMMUNITY COUNTS Community Counts is pleased to announce the updating of the community and municipal electoral district boundaries.
Our new community boundary definitions increased the total number of communities to 311 (from 286).
The key changes are:
- The boundary was moved between Church Point and Weymouth (Belliveau's Cove, Ohio, and St. Bernard were shifted from Weymouth to Church Point).
- Sackville South and Sackville North were divided into three communities instead of two, now called Lower, Middle and Upper Sackville.
- All of the community boundaries in Cape Breton County were redefined with the assistance from staff with CBRM, increasing the total number of communities in that county to 48 (from 23).
We currently post data in municipal electoral districts for 4 municipalities in Nova Scotia: the Municipality of the County of Kings, Queens Regional Municipality, Cape Breton Regional Municipality, and Halifax Regional Municipality.
Highlights of recent changes to this geographic level are:
- We have added the electoral districts for the Municipality of the County of Kings.
- There are now 16 electoral districts in Halifax Regional Municipality (formerly 23).
- Both Queens Regional Municipality and Cape Breton Regional Municipality have recently made changes to some of the boundaries, the most up-to-date boundary changes are now incorporated into Community Counts.
