April 10, 2015LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - MARCH 2015 In Nova Scotia March 2015 (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force increased 0.1% (+600) from February to 491,800 and increased 0.3% (+1,700) over March 2014.
- Employment declined 0.1% ( -500) from February to 446,000 and remained unchanged over March 2014.
- Unemployment increased 2.2% (+1,000) from February to 45,800 and increased 3.6% (+1,600) over March 2014.
- Unemployment rate increased 0.2 percentage points from February 2014 to 9.3%.
In Canada March 2015 (seasonally-adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force increased 0.1% (+26,400) from February 2014 to 19.2 million and increased 0.6% (+111,900) over March 2014.
- Employment increased 0.2% (+28,700) from February 2014 to 17.9 million and increased 0.8% (+138,100) over March 2014.
- Unemployment decreased 0.2% (-2,400) from February 2014 to 1.3 million and decreased 2.0% (-26,300) over March 2014.
- Unemployment rate remained unchanged from February 2014 at 6.8%.
In Halifax March 2015 (3 month moving average, seasonally adjusted):
- Labour force declined 0.8% (-1,900) from February 2014 to 240,400 and increased 1.9% (+4,500) over March 2014.
- Employment declined 1.0% (-2,200) from February 2014 to 224,900 and increased 1.6% (+3,600) over March 2014.
- Unemployment increased 2.6% (+400) from February 2014 to 15,500 and increased 6.9% (+1,000) over March 2014.
- Unemployment rate increased 0.2 percentage points from February 2015 to 6.4%.
