Lantz Quarry Expansion Project

Description

This is to advise that on 2 November 2022, 2514869 Nova Scotia Limited, an affiliated company of Dexter Construction Company Limited will register the Lantz Quarry Expansion Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to expand the existing 3.69 hectare (ha) operating footprint of Lantz Quarry (Industrial Approval 2007-060446-03) by an additional 8.7 ha over the next 40 years to increase available aggregate material and ensure that a long-term aggregate supply is available to support local project and infrastructure needs in the future. The Lantz Quarry is seasonally operated on an as-needed basis with typical site activities including clearing of vegetation and overburden; drilling, blasting and crushing exposed bedrock; and, stockpiling, loading and transporting finished aggregate products. Other than the 8.7 ha increase in the total operating footprint, the proposed expansion does not involve any changes to the scope or frequency of the exiting quarry. The Project is located on PID 00524298 at civic address 48 Dutch Settlement Road, Lantz, Halifax County.
