Description
This is to advise that on December 19, 2014 Mi’kmaq Wind4All Communities L.P. registered the Amherst Community Wind Farm Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to develop three 2 megawatt (MW) wind turbines, and to generate up to 6.0 MW of power on lands. The undertaking is located approximately 5.5 kilometers east of Amherst, Cumberland County. The project is scheduled to commence in the winter of 2015 with operation expected in the fall of 2015.
Minister's Decision
On February 17, 2015 the Minister of Environment released a decision (PDF:33k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act. The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditions (PDF:162k).
