Barrington Wind Energy Project

Description

This is to advise that on February 12, 2013, Watts Wind Energy Inc. registered the Barrington Wind Energy Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to develop the 3.2 megawatt community owned Barrington Wind Project located in the Municipality of the District of Barrington. The project is approximately 4km west of Barrington Passage, NS. The project will involve the installation of two utility scale wind turbines. Construction is scheduled to begin late 2013, with commissioning occurring early 2014.

Minister's Decision

On April 3, the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:449k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act. Public comments on the Registration Document were accepted until March 14, 2013.
